1. Q. Why do I need a Web site?
A. Typical reasons a company will want to have a Web site are to improve corporate image, improve customer service, find new prospects, increase visibility, perform transactions, expand their market, meet their customer expectations, and/or reduce costs.    TOP

2. Q. How do people find out about my Web site?
A. The best way for people to find out about your Web site is to add your URL to your traditional advertising media. Put your address on your business cards, product brochures, magazine, radio, newspaper, and TV advertisements. Put it in all your press releases and in your trade show publications. WWW users use "Search Engines" to find things on the Web. We will add you to 10 of the most popular search engines so that people can find your site based on key words.    TOP

3. Q. What is a URL?
A. URL is an acronym for Uniform Resource Locator.  A URL is the address of a Web page.  Urls vary in appearance.  Some examples of urls are:   http://www.servername.com/faqs.htm, http://yourname.com/faqs.htm, http://www.yourname.net/faqs.htm, and http://www.servername.org/faqs.htm.      TOP

4. Q. How do I get my own domain name?
A. "www.yourname.com" is an example of a domain name. Domain names are controlled by InterNIC to be sure there isn't any duplication of names. InterNIC charges an initial fee of $70 to register your domain name for two years and $35 for an annual renewal after that. 5. Q. What does HTML stand for?
A. HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. This is the language that WWW documents use. It is a transportable language that all browsers on all computers are able to read. HTML has grown since it was first introduced and some of the newer features are not understood by older browsers.    TOP

6. Q. What is an HTML document?
A. An HTML document is a single Web page. HTML documents can be created from the documents you supply or can be written by CoyoteSun Web Design to organize and link your other documents.    TOP

7. Q. What is a scanned-in image?
A. If a photograph or drawing must be digitized and processed by us, that is considered a scanned-in image. We will scan in the item, crop it, size it for your Web site, adjust color, brightness, and contrast as necessary, and store it in JPEG or GIF format for use on the Web.    TOP

8. Q. How do I supply an electronic image?
You can either scan the image yourself or mail it to us and we will scan it for you.  If you do not have the image already cropped and sized to the size we specify to fit on your Web site, we can do it for you. Save the image  in JPEG or GIF image formats. You can do this yourself if you have access to a scanner or if the image was computer generated to begin with and you can export it to GIF or JPEG.    TOP 

9. What is a browser?
A. A browser is what a person uses to read WWW documents. The most popular ones are Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer.   TOP

10. Q. What is a hyperlink?
A. A hyperlink (also called link) is a word or phrase highlighted on your screen. When you click on it, your browser jumps to another location, either within the current document, outside your document but still within your Web site, or to another Web site.    TOP

12. Q. What is a server?
A. A server is a computer where a Web site physically resides, accessible to others via the Internet. We can help you arrange for a place on the WWW for your site.    TOP

13. Q. What is a search engine?
A. A search engine is a free or pay WWW service that allows a user to search through the millions of Web pages for a word, phrase, or category. Different search engines have different methods of cataloging Web sites. Some of the most popular search engines are: Yahoo, Infoseek, Webcrawler, Excite, and Lycos.    TOP

14. Q. Do I have to do anything to my computer to have a Web site?
A. You don't even have to own a computer to have a Web site. You can arrange for space with an Internet Service Provider, or we can arrange for you to have it hosted by someone.   TOP

15. Q. What is Web Hosting?
A. This is a company which makes a home for your Website on the Internet. This is called "hosting" a Website. It is similar to having a street address on the World Wide Web. Once you have an address, your website can be viewed by virtually anyone browsing the World Wide Web. 16. Q. What is dial-up Internet access?
A. Examples of Dial-up Internet Access are America On-Line, CompuServe, or Prodigy. They provide you with e-mail and Internet access via a modem. You will need a dial up account to view your new Web Site on the Internet.    TOP

17. How much will it cost to design my site?
A. Most people starting out on the Internet have no idea what a professionally designed Web site will cost. 18. How long will it take to design my site?
A. Anywhere from two weeks to two months, sometimes longer for really large sites. The length of design time depends on a number of factors:

  • How soon we meet to develop a scope of work.
  • The length and complexity of the site.
  • Our current work load.
